Programme description:

Finance and International Investment Programme aims at providing students with professional knowledge about economics’ mechanisms and with instruments of international financial markets. Students learn how to manage modern financial engineering instruments of multinational corporations, are supplied with knowledge of the foreign exchange risk management techniques, optimization, corporate finance and international relations, especially these associated with investing in assets. The program provides students with skills that enable them to prepare state-of-the-art analyses of the market value of enterprises and financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.

Graduates will possess high qualifications of modern analytical methods and tools underpinned by broad social knowledge, and will gain expertise in financial markets and institutions, international financial management, monetary policy, banking, insurance and accounting.

Graduate profile and potential career opportunities:

Students participate in key-skills workshop, they prepare financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and evaluate market’s value of businesses and assets. Graduates are familiar with the particularity of foreign exchange markets, are supplied with the essential skills to manage modern financial engineering instruments of multinational corporations, have knowledge of the foreign exchange risk management techniques, optimization, corporate finance and international issues associated with investing in foreign assets.

Application and admission procedure:

Candidates register online, enter their personal data and choose a field of study in the IRK system (Warsaw University online application system). Candidates remit the application fee to the relevant bank account specified at the IRK System. The account number varies depending on the currency in which the payment is made – 80 PLN, 20 EURO or 26 USD).

A complete application should contain:

  1. Sworn translation into Polish Language of the maturity exam (arbitur) made by a sworn translator or Polish consulate
  2. Maturity exam (abitur) confirmation by Polish consulate (you must provide a certificate confirming that your maturity exam allows you to undertake a first-cycle studies)
  3. An application form only for national maturity exam holder (not applicable for Polish maturity exam holder)
  4. Photocopy of the data page of your passport or your ID card
  5. Proof of remittance of the application fee

The annual fee is 2100 EUR (+200 EUR for administrative costs) for candidates from outside of EU, 6600 PLN for EU citizens. Maximum 50% of candidates can receive complete tuition waivers for the entire programme.

Programme description:

The distinctive feature of this programme is that it combines the overall fundamentals of economic theory with specialized knowledge in finance what has been appreciated by international ranking providers. The basic aim of this specialization is to provide students with theoretical knowledge from the field of quantitative finance combined with its practical applications in financial institutions, taking into account the latest trends in financial world. This programme was designed after the detailed analysis of many other similar programmes: Quantitative Finance, Financial Econometrics, Financial Engineering and Financial Economics, which are taught at the best universities worldwide.

Graduate profile and potential career opportunities:

Graduates are equipped with theoretical knowledge and practical applications which enable them to make independent decisions basing on the real-time financial data with use of tools and techniques dynamically developing in modern finance. The degree combines economic methods, quantitative techniques and state-of-the-art financial analyses to give students a strong background from which to purse their careers. Students are encouraged to develop their abilities to use economic analysis in a variety of finance-related problems.

  1. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or equivalent
  2. Candidates must be proficient in English (B2 or higher is recommended)
  3. Candidates must submit a cover letter and two letters of recommendation from academics, with at least PhD, who know the candidate personally
  4. Candidates must present a transcript of records for the relevant undergraduate cycle diploma (supplement from the UE or the equivalent in other countries)
  5. Qualification is based on the ranking list. In the procedure candidate can get max. 100 ranking points. Ranking points are calculated as following: 30% for statement of purpose (cover letter) and two recommendations, 70% for grades and number of hours for subjects in the previous course of study (10 % for each: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Mathematical Statistics, Probability Calculus, Econometrics, Mathematical Analysis or Mathematical Calculus, Finance)
